Good afternoon everyone. I wanted to share with you this lovely gal that I just finished. She is the result of a wonderful class I am taking given by Jane DesRosier of Gritty Arts Studio...Jane is such a sweet heart and a wonderful teacher. The link is in my sidebar with the Cloth & Clay banner...just click on that if you are interested in taking the class yourself...you will NOT be disappointed...working with clay is sooo relaxing..gosh I love it. I took the class and worked on this gal late in the evening and LOVED it...I usually don't work in the evenings unless I have a show coming up...but I found I really liked working on it in the wee hours of the night after Mark had gone to bed and the house was quiet...a couple of times he woke up and came out and asked if I was ever going to come to bed:)..he was lonely I guess:)....okay....enough of my chatting....please meet.....
~Joyous Spring~

Now...I don't think I did too bad considering it's only the second clay face I've ever sculpted...and the first one looked like Cher....and that was NOT intentional!! I just think she's the sweetest..:) Now that I've finished the first doll.....I will move on to the "Challenge" doll...we are suppose to take this basic doll and branch out and make it our own...and do whatever we want using this same medium.... I'm very excited for that:)..what fun! I'm going to be offering Joyous Spring this month on The Humble Arts and Simply Primitives...I don't usually offer the same thing on both sites...or have just one thing....but I've been so busy with orders and I've been so sick with a horrible sinus infection as well as an ear infection that I decided it's what I need to do. I have also been very busy preparing for my next announcement;..............................which is.............
.......................I'm opening my own website!!!

I'm so excited...I've always wanted my own website but I've never felt I needed one really...my blogger website was enough along with my other online sites..well now I do believe the time has come to hit the big time and have a real website!!! I've decided to stick with Simply Primitives on the 1st and the 15th and The Humble Arts on the 1st and that's it for online groups..I will be doing ebay again on a regular basis as well.....These are all goals that I've set for myself that I'm putting into action finally. I must say...this is all very exciting! The website will be www.vermontharvestfolkart.com, I had to register for a new domain name as when you register your domain name through blogger...(and blogger might boot me and shut me down for saying this.....so if my blog disappears..you'll now why...) but anyway...you can not retrieve it to move it to another server! So..just be aware of that little tidbit if you register for a domain name through here!!! It all turned out for the best in the end....as I do think that having my website name be the same as my business name is a better idea anyway...so...all's well that ends well as they say!!!
I shall be having a Grand Opening~Old Fashioned Winter Open House on Sunday, February 15th at 2pm. I would love to have all of you stop by for a visit...I will be offering tasty treats and hot beverages of course!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~By the way....I do apologize for being absent as of late....we've had so much going on here with Jenna coming home from Belize (I'll share pictures just as soon as she gets them to me)...Kurt ending up doing serious injury to his shoulder from his Skiing accident (he broke his Humerus Head, tore ligaments and fractured his rotator cuff)....he needs intense physical therapy and hopefully will not end up needing surgery.......I've been sick.....orders started rolling in...gracious..I've been exhausted..but anyway..I do apologize...I've missed visiting with everyone! The kids have headed back to College to start their next semester and I've gotten back into my regular routine..Thank goodness!!!
We are bracing for a huge snow storm coming tonight and throughout the day tomorrow!!!! YIPEE!!..you know how I love the white stuff...10-16" is expected..Gosh..that will be wonderful!
Have a great evening everyone...stay warm!
27 delightful friends dropped in for a visit:
Doreen,I have been sitting here looking at JOYOUS SPRING, she is just lovely!! I hope everyone can take the time to enlarge her and see what an amazing job you have done. The details of her face are wonderful.You have I fear gotten yourself into yet another medium that will be keeping you up many a night. Mom
Like your Mom I think you've done a fine job on your dollie. The colours in her outfit are perfectly earthy too, just soooo prim.
Sorry to hear about Kurt's mishap but at least it is not surgery.And I bet Jenna had a fantastic time.
We're to get about 8 inches but to the south of us it's to be freezing rain and you and I know firsthand how terrible that can be!
Enjoy the snow and I look forward to your new website.
xo Susan
Doreen -
I feel like I am so acquainted with you through your blog. You have no idea how much I could step into your world and live in Vermont. I live in Boise, Idaho and wish I had more history and interesting architecture like there is in New England. I too have a love affair with snow, and tonight we are only getting an inch or two ;-(!! I love your blog. Please check mine at www.colonoalhomkeepings.blogspot.com. Keep up yor BEAUTIFUL talent!!!
Doreen, your doll is just beautiful and if you wouldn't have said it was from through a class or that it was only your 2nd clay doll no one would have guessed.
It is perfect, artistic, and very artsy. I LOVE HER.
Congratulations on getting a website....your work will sell for sure.
Hugs, Karen
Hi Doreen,
Your new doll is just beautiful! I like the colors that you picked for her dress too. I have gotten distracted with other projects, and need to get back to working on mine SOON. :)
Congrats on your new website, how exciting! The intro page looks just great, I will be there for the open house.
Hugs,
Stephanie
Hi sweets!!! Thank you for the info, I was going to have Sara register my.com on my blogger but, I think I will not do that now!! Good tip... I am SOOOO excited for your website!! I think I should be able to pop over there and see what is happening for your open house! I LOVE your dolly! I haven't even started (what a loser huh???) Just getting over that bad cold virus... I think you know what I mean... Hugs and Loves, MO
Oh! congrats on your new website! Thats great news! Your Jane doll turned out so fantastic!! Beautiful!
I swear we are on the same page...I was just coming over to see what you were up to when I noticed I had a comment from you...so funny.
Your doll is lovely, she's gonna sell fast! I wondered about that class. I clicked on the link about a week or so back but got interrupted and never made it back there. You make it sound so fun...the last time I made anything in clay was an ash tray in 8th grade art class...kind of funny a kid making an ash tray boy have things changed!
Congratulations on your new website...I'm sure it will be inspiring like all of your work. I'm glad everyone is on the mend now, January can be a tough month.
Boy can I ramble on.....Stay cozy and warm today xoxo Jenn
Doreen, Mom hear again!I got so caught up in my pride over "joyous spring" I do that you know, that I totally forgot to comment on your Website.You have now opened the door to the big time!!I personally know the time and effort that you have put into this new venture and I know it can only bring you more success than ever. I am a bit worried that you will get so busy we won't beable to have you fill us in on your day to day adventures on your blog.I know that there are many of us that would miss that. Loved the brunch on Sun with everyone ,it was wonderful to see the kids and have a special send off after the hoildays. Love Mom
Doreen, I've enjoyed my visit and catching up with all you have going on. Joyous Spring is a treasure, you've done a remarkable job with her! A new website to look forward to, I'll definitely "be there" for your open house, can't wait to see it.
Enjoy your snow, where I am in central VA we got a glaze of ice, it melted by evening though. I'll be back soon to see what new ventures you're up to. Take care.
~Diane
Doreen - Thank-you for the nice compliment you left on my blog. Your latest doll 'Joyous Spring' is wonderful! I have a feeling you will be incorporating clay into a lot of your future projects, or at least I hope you do. Last winter and this winter have been snow filled for our area and it is beautiful. You gotta love our New England weather!
Beautiful new dollie Doreen! Your house of illness sounds like ours! Hope you are feeling better and Kurt doesn't need surgery, ouch!
Can't wait to visit your new website on the 15th....how exciting!
I'm really really really glad we've met.
hope to chat again...I can see we have the "artist"
kindred spirit
Oh my! So very much going on with you and yours. The best to Kurt's healing, and of course to your sinus problems. Happy schooling, kids, and let it snow, let it snow, let it snow, for that will afford you more time to sculpt more wonderful dollies like lovely little Joyous Spring!
XO,
Zwee!!!!
Good Morning Doreen! Thanks for visiting this a.m. I'm finally happy with the background also. It sounds like a beautiful morning there with all the snow. Enjoy your day! Jenn xoxo
