Good morning everyone. I just wanted to drop you a note and let you all know that Kurt is okay. He has an extremely severe tooth abscess...he hit his tooth a couple of weeks ago playing hacky sack..he said he bent down ..didn't realize the chair was so close and whacked his tooth...he said it hurt at the time..but hasn't bothered him since....except for feeling a little loose last week...well..i guess it killed the tooth....and when it became loose bacteria built up inside the hollow area and developed an abscess. This past weekend when I was there he said he hadn't been feeling good...but so much is going around...I just assumed it was the flu coming on or something. Wednesday he called and said his tooth was hurting..told me what had happened and what he thought was causing the trouble..he went and saw the campus nurse and she put him on antibiotics and some pain meds and said he would need to get into the dentist within the the next day or two....well,..it got bad faster than we could get him in to the dentist....He was taken to the emergency room in horrible pain...thank goodness Jenna is at school with him.....they gave him a shot of Dilaudid.. which is apparently a "Hydromorphine injection" let's you know exactly how much pain he was in doesn't it! Anyway..he was then taken to an oral surgeon where they drilled a hole in his tooth and drained the abscess. My poor Kurt..you should have seen him...he was literally unrecognizable his face was so swollen and disfigured. I was shocked when I saw him. He was running a high fever, vomiting..it was awful. After the abscess was drained and he slept for the afternoon he was starting to improve thank God. He has to continue on pain meds and antibiotics and as soon as the infection is completely gone and the tooth is "dry" he has to have a root canal!
Thank you all so much for your comments here and for your emails! You are all such wonderful and caring friends! Big hugs to you. Now I'm off to play catch up! Doreen

Oh my heavens..... Poor Guy! I do hope that he gets to feeling better. I used to work in a dental office and have seen that happen many times...... HUGS to him and you!
May Kurt have a speddy recovery and your heart from all the worry as well. Take best of care. :)
That sounds like quite an ordeal, but I am so glad he's okay! I am wishing him a speedy recovery.

p.s. Thanks so much for posting my giveaway here!
Doreen, I am still in shock about walking into that room and looking at my sweet, handsome grandson lying in that bed.He was a total stanger to me ,if they hadnot told me "Kurt is in that bed I would have never known. It was avery frighting site for us both. Who ever thinks that a damage to ones tooth could be a threat to their life. As usual the fears were pushed aside and you went right in to te mother mode. With in minutes his every need was taken care ,Jenwason he way to get his meds ,Kurt was taken to a warm clean bed for some much needed rest with you close by monitoring hisfever and swelling. I have to say how touched I was by all his fellow students who came by to see him and ask about his condition and offering to take him to app. and cover his classes so he would not get behind.I felt good knowing when we left him "as he would not come home and miss classes" not only was Jenna giving him the same care you would but many friends were also there for him.God was on our side once again.Love Mom
Oh my Doreen, so glad he is ok. No matter how old they are it still panics you when one of your babies is sick. Tooth absecses can be very serious, I'm glad he's on the mend so mama can put her mind at ease.
glad to hear Kurt is okay...who knew a tooth could do all that..take care,
Gina :)
Honey those campus infirmaries tend to be Quack City -- he should have been seen by a competent physician right away, how awful for him to go through that. Hope he continues to quickly mend.
Thank you everyone. :)
Please do not think I am in any way blaming the campus nurse..she did her job well..it just developed into a problem quicker than anyone expect.

Doreen,
Its been such a long time since Ive had a minute toi write, but dont think for a minute Im not here each week peeking in on ya...
Im so happy for your Kurt. I KNOW how horrible any kind of tooth pain is and being a recovering addict myself... I am sure dilaudid was much needed relief. (thank God) Healing and time is of the essence. They will always be our little girls and boys wont they?
So muc has happened in my life, I sadly dont get to create as much as I want to AND need to. I am however finding my groove in my new exciting career and will work on better time management. So good to be able to come here and feel grounded with so many special kindred spirits in our community.
Peace and much abundance, ((Kat))
