Good afternoon. I thought I would take a few minutes and say a quick hello to everyone while things are in the oven drying. It's raining and 42* here this afternoon.....It would seem we are having our January thaw a bit late this year.....I stood on the front porch this morning enjoying my coffee and actually heard the spring birds chatting away...I'm not sure if this means we are going to have an early spring or if the little birds are going to have to endure a bit of snow and cold ...we shall see i guess. Mark and his sugaring partner Michael just may have to get their supplies ready a bit early this year...that's what the air smells like to me...Sugaring Time! It will be here very soon!

I had a little accident this past Saturday which put me slightly out of commission for a day or two.....I drove one of my clay tools through my finger....it went in the bottom and out through the nail...!!!! ..I actually didn't feel it going in.......however, once in there....OH MY LORD...it felt like someone was holding my finger in searing hot oil..........the tissue swelled immediately and I could not take it out myself..of course..I was home alone when I did this very stupid thing..(Mark was in the woods working at his parents house).... fresh out of the shower and with only my robe on...i called my mom in law (she's a nurse ).."Ummm...Mimi...can you come over here..I've stabbed myself with one of my clay tools and I'm not sure what to do".....)..while she was on her way over I tried to get myself dressed as I was NOT going to the dr's in my robe....well..this is not an easy task when you have a 5" long sharp pointy thing sticking out of your finger...the sweat was literally dripping off me and I came close to vomiting more times than I can count..I finally gave up and waited for Ruth.....when she came in the door..she goes..."what happened hon"...I held up my hand..and for a quick second...she had a look of horror on her face...lol....it's funny now to think about it...however, it was not funny at the time!!! Long story short..(i know..too late for that)...clothes on...bumpy road traveled.....finger numbed...pain pills taken.. sharp pointy tool removed....finger bandaged ...tetanus shot injected...crying subsided...lol....and that's the end of that story!!!!

23 delightful friends dropped in for a visit:
Glad to hear you had a nice day to enjoy after your horrific accident story (which I still cannot get over!! horrifying and somewhat comical at the same time... just glad you were okay in the end!) It was warm enough for me to sit outside for a bit today without my coat on - such a treat!
I can't wait to see more of Miss Hiver. :)
Hugs & wishes of stab-wound-free-ness,
Stephanie
Doreen OUCH!!!!! I'm sorry to hear about your boo-boo! Hope you are on he mend.
Hi.
I found you via Donna's.
Horrible story about your finger!!!
That's gonna smart for awhile!
Like your 'rustic' pin keep,
I do pin cushions, but nothing like that, and it is a refreshing and simple change.
You have a fun blog.
Thanks for sharing your creativity with us.
Barbara Jean
Oh my! I am so sorry for your ordeal! I know that was painful AND frightening! I hope you heal up quickly! Take care of yourself!
Oh that sounds awful! However, you do realize that a really hardcore blogger would have taken several photos of the gruesome sight to post- haha! But seriously, glad you are better now!
Doreen that sounds just horrible!
How in the world did you keep from passing out?
Just glad they could numb it up and give you some pain killers. How does it feel today?
I love the heart pin cushions in the picture - did you make them??? They're adorable.
The temps have been so warm here the last few days and we heard lots of birds singing their Spring songs...hope it's not long now!
Hugs, Karen
Oh my goodness ~ I felt dizzy just reading your story. I did something similar about a month ago...cut the top of my thumb off ~ thought I was going to pass out. I hate tetanus shots! I'm so glad your healing up and able to work again.
It was the perfect day for grilling. I'm ready for Spring...we had robins in our yard today. Snow is coming tomorrow though so back to winter.
Can't wait to see the unveiling of Miss Hiver ~ love berries and browns together. I'm sure she's beautiful.
Have a pleasant evening!
Jenn xoxo
OMGoodness... Doreen, I can't imagine what that felt like... I am quinching at this moment. You are a brave soul. So glad things turned out ok.

OH MY, I am late reading this, my danged blog-reader thingy isn't working right...how AWFUL, honey yer a menace to yerself!!!!
Hello Doreen! I like your heart pin keep and your lovely blog. Good job!
-Miss Daphne
Who needs horror and gory films and books when we have our blog buddies who are artists injuring themselves with their own tools? Oh that was horrible, Doreen! I hope the pain has subsided and that you're back to work.
Happiest of Valentine's Days to you dear little injured friend.
XO and dolly hugs,
Christine
Ouch, ouch, and OUCH! I do hope your finger is better. I can't believe you had to keep the tool in while you were taken to the Dr.! I pretty sure I would have passed out.
Looking forward to visiting your new website tomorrow!
Happy Valentine's Day!
Doreen!!! How awful! I'm glad your mil was nearby to help! I cut my hand pretty badly years ago while doing dishes and had to walk to my mil's to have her help me bandage it since I couldn't release the pressure. It's always the silliest kinds of accidents, isn't it?
Have a lovely day!
