~Greetings. The snow and the wind doth blow on this Tuesday morning in Vermont. We had a fresh new layer of snow overnight and now it is softly falling & is swirling about, slamming into the windows on a strong, bitter blustery wind! I shall be stitching the day away by a cozy fire. Wishing you a joy filled day.~

~A Blissful Niche~

I have finally found it!!!! It's such a satisfying feeling..it's hard to describe...it's joy and comfort, great pleasure..... pure elation...complete satisfaction. It's finally finding that thing which takes up all the hours in the day... and several in the evening... you step into your studio at 8am & in a flash.....it's 6pm.....the day has flown by in pleasure & delight & does not feel the slightest bit like you've just spent 10 hours at work!!!!!!

It's that feeling you had when you met your husband and you just knew "this is the person I'm suppose to be with"..and everything just kinda fell into place & the world just seemed calmer somehow......OR when your children were born and you realized.... "So THIS is what it means to LOVE"

It's wonderful!!!

The little bear lounging on top of my pile of mohair is a commissioned little fellow.. (he's almost ready Jan... he's waiting on his travel companion to finish packing!!!!).....Each time I make a new bear I just want to squeeze them..they are so darn cute..these little ones sit perfectly in the palm of my hand..I just love that!!!

The bear in the photograph is my constant inspiration...he was made in Germany between 1905 and 1910....I have had this picture for 5 years......!!! For 5 years he has been pinned to my bulletin board...patiently waiting for me to pay attention to him!!! My goal is to recreate him...I'm getting there...slowly but surely!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now I'm off to make a batch of brownies and finish up a few things in the studio before it's time to start dinner (home made pizza). Before I do any of that though, I need to stoke the fire..it is absolutely bitter cold here today..just plain raw!
Wishing you a wonderful day, Doreen
19 delightful friends dropped in for a visit:
Oh goody, I get to be first! You are making me want to try mohair. Maybe you could do a tutorial about working with it? I'm wondering how you make them baldy-looking-but I'm guessing you just sorta shave them?? This little guy is so wonderful, Doreen. I'm so happy you are blissfully enjoying your 'work'!"
Love, Debra
Hi Doreen, every time I come visit your blog, I am taken back by the beautiful music and how good it makes me feel. I also love the quote about creating - it is so true. Those little bears are just adorable. I can just see you working away in a cozy little studio. Have a great weekend, Dawn
Doreen,
To find a place within yourself that is peace, elation, and happiness is a very rare gift. And then to take that and create something like your bears that reflect your feelings is true bliss.
Hi Doreen,
What a lovely sweet bear. I, like you, have a photo also :) of a bear that just inspires me and a book about fixing old bears with wonderful pics....I'll send you the title in a bit ~ it's in the studio and I'm too cold to go out there right now but I won't forget....think you would really enjoy it.
What a wonderful thing to love work isn't it?
Hope your warm and cozy and having a happy day.
Sending hugs ~ Jenn
Hi Doreen,
I haven't been here in awhile and I am sorry - not sure how I have been missing you lately.
Your creations are always so impressive and totally UNIQUE...they are just YOURS.
Love the little bear - never worked with mohair but I have a feeling if I start I won't want to quit...I love the feel and look of it.
Hi Doreen, thanks for dropping by my blog, I love to find new friends :) I do like what I'm seeing here, and when I saw that you love Izannah Walker dolls I wondered if you knew of my sister, Susie McMahon. And of course I found that you do :)We're enjoying a warm Summer here in Tassie, with very mild nights (unusually), keep yourself warm and keep creating Hugs x
Oh, Doreen! What a sweet post- and I know what you mean about creative time just flying by!!
Your little bears are just wonderful, and I'm so happy that they have brought so much joy into your life, because I know they will be treasured by the people who "adopt" them!
Trying again....I lost the first post!
I am so glad I was led to make a long-neglected visit here, because it is so inspiring to read how you describe the contentment and joy you have found in your creating of bears and other soft creatures. It will make me happy whenever I think of you so many miles to the North, creating in your studio, telling us what you are going to bake and cook, tending the fire.
Wishing you snow,
Lesley
PS I don't have any bears or soft little ones....but if there had been another Milton Mouse available, I would have been sorely tempted! Just enchanting.
