~Greetings. The snow and the wind doth blow on this Tuesday morning in Vermont. We had a fresh new layer of snow overnight and now it is softly falling & is swirling about, slamming into the windows on a strong, bitter blustery wind! I shall be stitching the day away by a cozy fire. Wishing you a joy filled day.~

~Sugaring Season Is Here~

~It has begun~

Today we are tapping tree's, running lines, setting up gathering tanks and preparing the wood fired boiler!

Then, we quietly wait...............

.....As the morning sun slowly warms the air & the temperature begins to rise....there it is, that soft, hallow, plunking drip, drip, drip, as that wondrous sugary liquid splashes into the bottom of a sap bucket..oh what a wonderful sound!

And so...this years Sugaring Season begins!

Stay tuned!

14 delightful friends dropped in for a visit:

Hi Doreen. I just showed my husband your post and he loved it. He wondered if you ever sell your syrup? His grandparents used to tap trees too and he really misses it - a great childhood memory. As ever, your music is so very soothing. Dawn

Just this afternoon I noticed the bulbs are starting to poke up out of the ground in the garden! Yippee!

Now if you could only deliver the smell of the syrup cooking ... that would be true delight!

Doreen, We finally have a true sign of spring ,The Sap Is Running!!! I have a lot of wonderful memories of sugaring not only as a child but in our little back yard sugar house and they are great ones. I also know how much work goes into each and every pint. I am so greatful we now have you and Mark to keep us supplied with it . Love MOM

Hi Doreen- Wish I could do this! I love maple syrup and the history that goes with it all. We are lucky to buy ours from small farms so we know it's the real thing-not supermarket stuff.
It's always such a joy to visit you.
Love, Debra

Doreen,
I have read about sugaring and always wanted to do it. It makes me svor every drop of Maple syrup on my waffles, knowing how much work is in it. My sister at the inn uses a Vermont Maple syrup in her maple custard pie. Yumm. Hugs, Robin

I love it when you post these kind of pictures....I have followed you every year doing this.
Wishing I had some of that pure Maple Syrup.
We had been buying some from a gentleman here but his son who did it, got ill and doesn't bring it down to him anymore...it's awesome stuff.
