~Greetings. The snow and the wind doth blow on this Tuesday morning in Vermont. We had a fresh new layer of snow overnight and now it is softly falling & is swirling about, slamming into the windows on a strong, bitter blustery wind! I shall be stitching the day away by a cozy fire. Wishing you a joy filled day.~

~New Offerings ~

"How silently they tumbl
e down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees
without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colors gleaming in the sun.
At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow."
- Elsie N. Brady, Leaves
Joyous November to you. This first morning of November has dawned cold with snow flurries floating through the air...it is absolutely perfect! Oh, how I love this time of year. The anxious anticipation of snow, the festive decorations, the smiles and laughter, the celebrations with family & friends, cooking, baking and the simple coziness of home. As you may have noticed, I have added a play list with a few Yuletide snowy songs to get in the holiday spirit and Miss Winter once again graces us with her presence :)...you have no idea how anxiously I have been waiting to change my banner and add this lovely holiday music. :)

So....On this first glorious day of November I
have three new offerings available on Early Work Mercantile.

First is Pru
dence Moore..

I think I say this a lot with my dolls..but this gal gave me a very hard time! I guess for me...dolls are more difficult to complete than my bears or other little mohair moppets...I love sculpting the dolls faces and watching them come to life..but when it comes down to dressing them and creating a completed look..it's hard for me..I know how I want them to look..but "they" never seem to agree with my ideas..as is usually the case, an argument ensues which ultimately ends with me giving in to "their" ways and giving them what they want! I guess I should just stop fighting it. I set out to make Prudence an old grandma turkey, wearing a shawl..perhaps a bit hunched over & holding a big loaf of homemade acorn bread....however, Prudence would have nothing to do with that..she wanted to be a bit younger..a bit fancier and more graceful. And please... a loaf of bread......She would have nothing to do with that....She did not care in the least that I had already spent the time creating this loaf of bread for her!! She did, however, concede toward the end and allow me to add a few "gray hairs" in that lovely updo of hers.

Regardless of my thoughts and her thoughts...I had this photo in mind while making her and now that I look back on it..I really do think she resembles this lovely albeit frazzled mama turkey!!!

In the end...I am very happy with how she came out..she's really quite lovely and I was still able to come up with a story to accompany her..so I will complain no more :)

I also now have available these fantastic Father Christmas Tree Ornies..they are so full of wonderful detail ..I just love them.

And last, but certainly not least, is this lovey Blackened Beeswax Hen.

I have one on my dining room table, placed in an olde wooden bowl with a bit of dried grass and she looks so lovely and festive :)

Doreen,I think it shows the true artist in you that you let you let your work dictate ,the direction they they want to go.I just love Prudence Moore, and Oh how lovely she is in her very stylish new dress. And I must agree that the flowers are more her style than a loaf of bread!Perhaps you might use it for a new Christmas mouse!!Now as to the weather and the music ,we all know you have been waiting all year for this ,we are surprised you waited this long to start playing it.Love you Mom

Hi Doreen,
I have enjoyed visiting your blog and your work is wonderful. I just wondering about the format, the text seems hard to read especially the parts that cross over the blog edges, is the text meant to be that way or is it the program you use for writing your bog?

Hooray, your's is the first seasonal music I've heard this year. I've been crazy busy redoing the shop for the holidays and got everything but the window done today - finally. Sure wish I had some of your fantastic wares in there! Have a great week, Dawn
