~Bahlu For Benjamin~

Good afternoon everyone. I wanted to share with you a sweet little bear I just finished. Bahlu is a commissioned piece and is getting ready for his trip to Massachusetts, where he will be residing, a bit later this afternoon. He's a bit nervous about traveling alone so I am giving him a bit of time to get use to the idea :).

Marilyn, a wonderful and dear customer of mine, asked me to create "Bahlu" for her grandson Ben's second birthday.

~This is Benjamin...ISN'T he the sweetest little fella..I mean look at those eyes..he's gorgeous!!~

I made him soft, squishy and oh so huggable as well as child friendly so that Ben will be able to hug him & squeeze him & love him forever.. His paper hat is removable and may be stored in a safe place only to be worn on special occasions. Written on his paper hat is "Benjamin & Bahlu...And now we are two!"

He is wearing a dapper little soft blue wool collar and carrying a small beeswax walnut for Benjamin's Grammie as you must always bring your hostess a gift.

Oh I do hope Ben likes him!

Good morning.
On this fine Saturday in May I would like to introduce you to my newest offerings...

Please meet;
Ladye Dorset.....A Grande White Pumpkin Doll..

I had so much fun making this grande gal...once again..I sketched her, along with fabric choices & details, late one evening while relaxing & watching television.....and...again... she slowly came to life just as I had planned! I LOVE it when that happens!!! AND, yesterday afternoon while sipping coffee on the front porch, enjoying our glorious spring weather, gosh it was just beautiful out...a short story started forming for her...I quickly ran inside..grabbed my pencil & paper..and..there it was......it's funny how while enjoying a beautiful Spring day...a fall story can come to mind..but who am I to question such workings :)

I really LOVE her dress! The Regency style dresses are my favorite..OH how I would love it if we all still wore these type's of dresses..truly!!! I would wear the top hat right along with it too! It has taken me over a year to figure out how to create one of these lovely dresses but I've finally gotten it right and I'm oh so happy about it!

Okay..i'm getting way too long winded..I meant to keep this short......

I just love this sweet little Silky Chicken all nestled in a bed of dried grasses...oh how I long to have a flock of REAL chickens of my own to tend to!

~A Sweet Little Trio Of Sawdust Stuffed Birds With Pinkeep~I just love this fabric...I just can't stop using it!

I must run now..we have a crazy busy day ahead with errands and such as we are leaving at 7am tomorrow morning to head up to Paul Smith's College for my sweet baby girl's College Graduation......once again I will say..goodness where does the time go...it seems like yesterday she was a year old!!! We are SOOO very proud of our wonderful, beautiful and brilliant girl Jenna!!!! Oh goodness...just writing that...I started tearing up...good graciou..how will I ever get through tomorrow! I plan on taking hundreds of photo's and I will be sure to share them here first thing next week.

New Offerings ~ Mrs. Robin~

Good afternoon! Gracious it is such a beautiful day here today! Warm , sunny & perfect! I am very tardy with getting this post....well, posted....I was planning on doing it much sooner (last night actually) however....I broke my toe Wednesday which has put a kink in my scheduled activities & has slowed me down considerably! It is taped up & I have to wear a very unattractive "boot/cast" thingy to keep my toes immobile and it's really hindering my daily activities....I just returned from grocery shopping and I'm exhausted....Mark asked me about 15 times If I needed him to go with me...to the point of annoying me actually ...and each time I said "oh my goodness NO...I'm fine"..well..about 20 minutes into it I was wiped right out and was severely regretting my stubbornness! Thank goodness he was here when I got home!!! He unloaded the car and put them all away for me ,I know darn well there was no way I would have been able to carry those groceries in this house. My clumsiness has started to break me..so I guess I had better start paying better attention to where I'm walking from now!

~Okay..let me introduce you to Mrs. Robin~
....who I am very proud of, if I do say so myself...I had an idea in my head..sketched her out on paper and she came to life just as I wanted her to! This does not happen all that often for me...so I am thrilled! Usually 1/2 way through the process Miss doll decides she wants to be someone else entirely and I have no choice but to go with the flow!This time.....Miss Doll & I were apparently thinking the same thing :)

My goal was to portray a doll who was actually a bird..but I wanted the bird features to be subtle..If I was a Robin..I would want to look just like this! I just love her tail feathers...I think it makes the entire doll...that and her sweet little beak! She has the rust colors of a Robin as well as the deep brown color of their feathers.....oh I could just go on and on..but I won't..it's a very lovely day here and I am headed outside for a bit. The kids will be here this afternoon to spend the night..YEAH.....we are having a big bbq at Mom & Dad's tomorrow to celebrate Kurt's 21st Birthday....so this evening...and tomorrow morning..Jenna & I have much baking and cooking to do.
