Good Sunday morning to you. And what a gorgeous morning it is. Beautiful snow has been falling steadily all morning...actually, we've had snow off and on since yesterday morning, along with freezing rain and ice and sleet. Thankfully today it is all snow! At one point yesterday afternoon there was a thick coat of ice covering everything in sight...very pretty but VERY dangerous. The weather did not matter to us however, as we dressed appropriately and trudged out into the woods AS...... sugaring season has begun!!!
Yesterday the guys ran sap lines while Ollie, Striker (Gary's gorgeous German Shepard) and I wandered and played.
It was so much fun but I must admit that after two hours of trudging through the woods, up and down hills in the steadily falling snow, sleet and ice, I WAS CHILLED TO THE BONE and decided it was time for Ollie and I to head home, tend the fire, check on our ham baking in the oven and to enjoy the coziness of both!!!
Ollie and the guys are headed back out into the woods in just a few minutes to tap the trees and ready The Sugarhouse and.... chances are, in a few hours, I will find myself bundled up and headed out to check on things and make sure young Ollie isn't too cold, but for the most part, I do believe I shall be staying inside and stitching the day away by the cozy fire and enjoy the sight of the softly falling snow outside my windows.
Wishing you a warm and relaxing Sunday! Until next time, :)Doreen
