~Tea Time Chat~

Good afternoon.  We've had a BIG swing of the pendulum in the weather department here in Vermont...it's 43* and raining right now!!  The wind is back though..I thought we were rid of it this morning as all was quiet..however, apparently it only scurried off for a few hours, changed directions and blew back in!  And...I  just heard that snow is expected this evening.  Thankfully we are snug and cozy here at home, Ollie has just had a bit of a run outside and is asleep by the wood stove for a bit which gave me a few minutes to pop in for a chat.

I was wondering.....

Do any of you use blogger as your .com website? ....it's free and with the new options..it's possible to build something that looks exactly how you wish it to look..

I am considering making the change...and creating a free website via blogger ....hence...I am looking for a bit of information.

I was given a great link by Kim Mailliard which explains..that when you create web pages via blogger..IT IS A REAL WEBSITE..so that answers one question for me and makes me even more encouraged to make the switch...

It also says in the article that blogger can actually reach a wider audience at often a quicker pace...which has me wondering..why would I stay with my current website...ANY THOUGHTS???

Has anyone done this...were you pleased with the results??

I am also wondering about my domain name....how would I switch it over....hmmmm

:)Thanks so much for your thoughts...ideas..words....all that good stuff ;)

Hi Doreen,

My Go-Daddy (yuck)contract for my website is coming due in July and I am then switching over to Blogger. I already have a note on my site that I have moved.

I can't help you with your web name because I use The Bear's Blog on Blogger and Bears...just b-claws for all other business.

I hope this has helped you.

Hugs

Woofies to Ollie.

Doreen, I use a .com domain now~ I think I pay $10 a year but it makes it easier for my family and friends to find my blog.
Your site will do great either way you choose!! ((HUGS))

Hello Doreen,
I came here to thank you for the lovely comment you left at The Bower, and of course, I stayed to have a visit and am feeling cosy and warm like I always do when I come here.

As for the blog vs website. If you can sell from a Blogger blog, I would recommend you switch, as you are familiar with it with this blog. I have several blogs with Blogger (tho' haven't sold from them) and the dashboard makes it all so easy to tend all of them. After more than a year with Wordpress, I would not recommend them as they are very complicated, compared to Blogger. I have to use WP for Wisteria & Sunshine as I take recurring payments from Paypal and have to keep it private...but since you don't need to do things like that, why not go for simplicity?

Wishing you well,

Lesley

Hi Doreen,
I made the switch. No more regular website, just blogger.
My www.Lorianncorelis.com and the spotted hare.com are with go daddy, all you need to do there is go in and "point" it to your blog address. you can "mask" it too so only the web address shows up. I have not done that as of yet, but I actually have 3 urls and my blog address all going to the same thing. I love only having one web prescence to keep updated!
I am not really done designing yet, but so far so good. Feel free to email me if you have any questions.
Love keeping up with your adventures and stitching!!
