Glad Tidings. Monday has dawned sunny & beautiful here in Vermont with a warm & humid week ahead (too warm in my humble opinion). Regardless of our short transformation back into the horrid world of humidity, my head and hands are still very much wrapped in our approaching Autumn. The cycle of life, the death, if you will, of our long hot summer and the birth of a cool & fresh autumn. It's so inspiring, this excitement as cold weather approaches..Autumn and Winter..my absolute favorite seasons.
Our garden is bursting with the "fruits of our labour". Yesterday I strung green beans or Leather Britches as they were called back in the day.
I've hung them off the end of huge shelve in the dining room lending a colonial feel to the room..I LOVE IT!
IN THE HARVEST STUDIO............... Owl bones.. Each time I sculpt a new piece, for a short time, it looks like a skeleton (at least it does to me) and I always think to myself, "I should leave it like this, go a little out of my comfort zone and see what happens"...but I've never actually done it...Until now. I ran across the antique image (at the top of this post) the other day on Pinterest and I needed no further inspiration!!
This is the skeleton of an owl ...IN THE MAKING. :) I like it so far tho he or she has a ways to go. Can't you just see her dressed in very olde & aged black fabrics..with a olde shawl and maybe some mouse bones in a basket. OR..perhaps a he..dressed much like the fellow in the image above...It's up in the air at this point..we will see where He..or She..decides to take me!! It's fun to dabble at the other end of the spectrum now and then :)
I'm off now to pour another batch of beeswax and get busy stitching..I've a crazy busy week ahead filled with custom orders & a shop order that all must be out the door on Friday..wish me luck (PLEASE)..I'm praying I can manage it all :)
IN THE HARVEST KITCHEN...............Pasta tossed with fresh garden zucchini, squash, heirloom tomatoes and basil with a loaf of crusty french bread
Wishing you a merrye day. ♥doreen
