~"I once had a sparrow alight upon my shoulder for a moment, while I was hoeing in a village garden, and I felt that I was more distinguished by that circumstance that I should have been by any epaulet I could have worn." ~Henry David Thoreau

~Glad Tidings. I'm so pleased you've stopped by. Do help yourself to a cup of tea and stay a while.~

~September....In Old New England~

"This was one of those perfect New England days in late summer where the spirit of autumn takes a first stealing flight, like a spy, through the ripening country-side, and, with feigned sympathy for those who droop with August heat, puts her cool cloak of bracing air about leaf and flower and human shoulders." Sarah Orne Jewett.

Good Tuesday Morning to you.   I sit, sipping coffee and enjoying the warmth of the wood stove as dawn just begins to break and we glimpse the first frost of the season.  I have been up since 4:00am, sitting by the wood stove, sipping coffee and sketching. This time of year always makes me a very early riser, there's just something about waking up before the dawn, while the wood stove crackles and pops, the coffee brews and the world is quite.  I LOVE IT.  It's one of my favorite things about this time of year.  The house is tidy, laundry is going and I await the light so that I may don my running clothes and head out into the crisp almost-autumn morning.

IN THE HARVEST STUDIO.............A lovely day of  stitching moppets, sketching and punch-needle is ahead.  Black cats, owls & bears...oh my!!!

IN THE  HARVEST KITCHEN..................Grilled Ham & Cheese sandwiches & tomato soup for dinner this evening.

**Wishing you a merry day. :)Doreen**

Hi Doreen,

The first frost, how exciting. I know what you mean about enjoying the pre-dawn, the world takes on such a peaceful, quiet time. And then the little birds start waking and chirping, it's wonderful.

Enjoy your days.
